Our six practices are as much a part of the community as we are
Moorhouse Opticians is a third-generation family business, with our sister company having been established for over 90 years.
Managing Director – Richard Puttrell – first became interested in a career in optics after a chance meeting with an optician while he was at school. He cites that meeting as the point at which he first considered undertaking optical training…and the rest is history!
Richard has some significant personal achievements under his belt, including completing the Inca Trail in 2009 and climbing Mount Kilimanjaro in 2011. However, it was the freedom to influence the progress of the practice and the level of care that our loyal patients receive that encouraged Richard into his current role in an independent opticians practice.
Our six branches also have their own history. Rothwell was the first to open in 1975; the Moorhouse family, who founded the practice, lived in the area and decided to open a local independent business to serve their community. The Garforth practice followed closely behind, as the family were also associated with this area.
Our Brighouse practice was the third to join the Moorhouse group, and the family worked hard to build this practice up from scratch and raise it to the level of service that the business had by now become known for.
Our final three practices – Askern, Mexborough and Cudworth – were all existing opticians businesses and were bought from their owners to enable the Moorhouse business to expand even further.
Today all of our practices provide the same excellent quality of service and eye care. All of our staff possess the same attributes of being knowledgeable, friendly, helpful and dedicated to finding the best possible eye care solution to every one of our patients, regardless of their situation or requirements.
For your convenience, there is plenty of parking available at each of our practices. What’s more, they are all located on ground level for easy accessibility if you suffer from mobility problems, or need to manoeuvre a pushchair into our waiting area!
